English Gazzette

We are at the halfway point in a good English club season, and now things start hot up.In the Premier League, Chelsea have led the way most of the season with a very tight defense and only 1 defeat they are the bookies favourites. Mo Salah and Ricky Wolfswinkel have been providing goals for the Blues, backed up by star studded midfield with a good passing game. Manchester United and Liverpool have both been chasing the Blues, Harry Kane has 11 goals for Liverpool and providing their firepower, while Griezmann and Dybala have provided the goals for United. It does look like a 3 club race for Premier League title, last season's champions Tottenham Hotspur are fighting to hold onto the 4th Champions League spot being chased by Portsmouth who just missed out qualifying from the group stages to the semi finals.
Although Pompey suffer from not having a prolific scorer, their midfield has proved strong and provided goals, Sheffield United have surprised everyone and in been in the top 5 most the season.
Manager Simeone is working wonders with the Blades and his rotation striker policy is paying dividends, combined with the 4th best defense in the Premier League to be challenging for European Football.Aston Villa are rallying under new boss Lambert and grinding out results, the 2-1 win over Manchester United puts the Villans close to european battle.

At the bottom end, Shrewsbury Town look to be struggling and favourites to go down, Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday and Everton are all battling to avoid the other relegation place.Everton have picked up some good points but with a manager awol could this be detrimental to their survival.

In the N Power Championship, favourites Manchester City have stumbled in recent matches and slipped down to 3rd place after a surprise 3-0 defeat at fast improving Blackburn Rovers, the club are also in talks to try and take Chelsea manager Drum to the club.Leicester City took advantage last round of Arsenal's 0-0 draw with Newcastle United, to go top of the table with a 2-1 win over Fulham, Slimani has taken over from Jamie Vardy and provided 16 goals so far this season.
But its a tight promotion race, Arsenal under manager Limerick Gunner are playing good football and fighting for promotion with Mertens and Walcott forming a good strikerforce with 27 goals between them. With Blackburn Rovers resurgence in form and a possible manager coming into Southampton it could be an exciting 5 club promotion race.At the bottom, AFC Bournemouth look favourites to go down, Middlesborugh are also struggling and would be favourites for relegation, the 3rd place could be between 4 clubs and very tight matter at the halfway point.

EFA Cup moves into the 3rd round, most of the big clubs and Premier League clubs are still involved at the last 16 stage.

The League Cup enters the Quarter Finals this weekend, with Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool already out a good chance for Manchester United to stake their claim, Manchester City are the only club outside the top flight involved in the competition.

In Europe, mixed fortunes for the English clubs, Tottenham were very poor and finished bottom of their group without any good performances. Portsmouth were very unlucky after beating group winners Real Madrid 4-3 but still missed out on semi finals by 1 point.Manchester and Chelsea both qualified from Group A with United winning the group, and look good for the semi finals over 2 legs.

Rumours are Manchester City have a mega offer on the table for Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke, but both club's have refused to comment in the media. Meanwhile, Manchester United are chasing Real Betis striker Sadio Mane and Marseille midfielder K Mezine.Portsmouth are chasing Bayern Munich striker Alexis Sanchez seen as key to providing more in attack for the club, Leicester City chasing West Ham striker Marko Arnautovic, Swansea City striker Wilfrid Bony and Sunderland defensive midfielder Birchiano.

Gazzette No 2

We now come into the last game of the regular season on Wednesday night, league leaders Chelsea and Manager ColinW who have led the way most of the season are just 1 win or draw away from being crowned Premier League Champions and a 3rd League title. The Blues have been in great form with 5 wins and 1 draw from their last 6 matches, having scored 62 goals in the league with Daniel Sturridge having his best season with 29 goals and Eden Hazard has 10 goals from midfield. The final night should be exciting, Manchester United are still in with a chance of winning the Premier League if Chelsea, slip up and they have been pursuing Chelsea all season.United have been banging in goals for fun this season with Antoine Griezmann on 30 goals, Paulo Dybala on 23 goals and surprise of the season Angel Gomes with 20 goals shows their firepower in attack and good leadership from departing manager Ian Thompson who leaves to join Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season.
Liverpool have guaranteed a return to Champions League football after a long absence by claiming 3rd spot and having a fall away from the top spot with some poor mid season form and change of manager after Bruffio went awol and Drum took over at Anfield. Much will be expected next season from the Reds with some good tactics and good solid formation they should be challenging for the League Title and Champions League.

A joint effort from pompeywilson and the latter part of season Mourinho has seen Portsmouth defy the odds and again clinch 4th place and a second successive season in the Champions League for next season.Pompey's problems have too many draws and under the previous manager playing with only one striker and lack of scoring goals, for Portsmouth progress a change in formation, tactics and scoring goals is needed for next season. Tottenham Hotspur and Sheffield United are battling for a 5th place finish, Tottenham the defending champions have been poor this season, too many defeats and basic tactics have cost them and they will look to the new incoming manager to make improvements and once again get the club challenging at the top.Sheffield United have a great season tipped for relegation, they have been up and around 4th/5th place all season and if they kept former manager Simeone may have made the Champions League they will need a manager next season to guide them.
Aston Villa have had a turbulent season but the appointment of Lambert has steadied the club and they will be looking for heavy investment for next season if they are to be a challenger for higher league position.Everton who may thought would make the Champions League places have also struggled through mismanagement and again seem to not keep managers as current manager Simeone is leaving after only several games in charge, Wayne Rooney has carried the club with 27 goals but rumors are he will not be at Goodison next season.
The Toffees will need big changes if they stay up to avoid another relegation battle next season, Shrewsbury Town are also going into the last match with survival still hanging by a thread. The new manager C Coates has earned the club some good points but may need a miracle on final day to stay up, Wolves have already been relegated much to disappointment of the fans and either Sheffield Wednesday, Shrewsbury or Everton will join them in the Championship next season.

In the N Power Championship, the final run-in proved exciting with the League Title and promoton going down to last day of the season. Arsenal wrestled the title away from Leicester City and were crowned League Champions under Limerick Gunner who came in and drove Arsenal forward to promotion with a tight defense and scoring goals, Mertens and Walcott formed a good partnership with 36 goals. The Gunners now have a good manager but will need major investment to stay in the Premier League or challenge for Champions League places.Leicester City went up too as runners up, they led the way most of the season with Slimani banging in 28 goals for the Foxes, they have a good defense and very strong midfield and should be strong enough to finish mid table. Manchester City won the 3rd promotion spot, they rallied well towards end of the season with new manager Ronaldo, City boast a powerful midfield good strikers with Jesus and Vardy and with some investment in defense should be capable of a good season in the top flight.
The promotion race for the 4th promotion spot excited everyone as Burnley and Nottingha Forest went toe to toe over the last 5 rounds with Burnley drawing 4 of those 5 games and allowing Nottingham Forest and manager MickeyW to hit form and pip them for a return to the Premier League at the first attempt. Forest have a good balanced team but need investment in strikers and need a a couple of good hotshots for a good season in the Premier League.

Domestic Cups
The EFA Cup proved a great competition this season, the semi finals through up an all London derby with Chelsea sneaking past Arsenal with a late winner, and Manchester United crushing the hopes of Newcastle United with a 7 goal blast. This has set-up another Chelsea v Manchester United final.

The League Cup through up surprising Quarter Finals with Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool already out, Manchester City, Portsmouth, Wolves and Manchester United battled into the Semi Finals.  Manchester United battled past rivals Manchester City 3-2, with Portsmouth knocking out Wolves on penalties. The final proved a one side encounter as Manchester United blew Portsmouth away with a 4 goal first half blast and Pompey never recovered. Manchester United lifted the trophy.

In Europe, mixed fortunes for the English clubs, Tottenham were very poor and finished bottom of their group without any good performances. Portsmouth were very unlucky after beating group winners Real Madrid 4-3 but still missed out on semi finals by 1 point.Manchester and Chelsea both qualified from Group A with United winning the group, and both clubs progressed into the Final. In the Final Manchester United led tiwce, with Chelsea coming back twice before United scored a 3rd goals won their second trophy of the season and crowned Champions of Europe. They now progress forward to the World Club Championship at the end of the season.

Rumours are Manchester City have a mega offer on the table for Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez, but both club's have refused to comment in the media. Meanwhile, Manchester United are chasing Real Betis striker Sadio Mane and Marseille midfielder K Mezine, with Unted having two offers turned down for the Marseille midfielder..Portsmouth are chasing Chelsea striker Alexis Sanchez seen as key to providing more in attack for the club, but Chelsea are unlikely to sell the striker.
Leicester City chasing West Ham striker Marko Arnautovic, Swansea City striker Wilfrid Bony and Sunderland defensive midfielder Birchiano. Nottingham Forest are chasing Sheffield Wednesday strikers F Forestieri and Gary Cooper, Wednesday have indicated the strikers can both leave if the club is relegated. Forest midfielder Sami Khedira wants to leave and return to Europe with a host of clubs chasing his signature, favourites are likely to be Olympique Marseille or Bayern Munich, but Udinese have also entered the hunt for the midfielder.
Bristol City are chasing Manchester City transfer listed pair Javi Martinez and Fabian Delph, with offers made for the two players.

Re: English Gazzette

Season 5 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting seasons, with defending Champions Chelsea going be the target and with new manager Marco Silva will need to start strongly.
Here are our views on each clubs chances in Season 5:-
Came up as champions and have a good manager with Limerick Gunner, Mertens and Walcott's 36 goal partnership will be tested in the Premier League. Ryan Sessgnon is the star in the team and Gunners will need investment in midfield, Monreal will lead defense and investment is also needed at the back. With some good performances our tip is a mid table finish.
Taking manager Lambert helped steady Villa away from relegation, Strootman, Grealish and Almiron were key with good passing stats and will important to Villa's season. Villa's problems are in attack with Chicharito scoring 15 goals and needing support if Villa are to have a good season. Our tip is mid table finish.
Current Champions of Premier League and with new manager Marco Silva, inherits a strong team from last season with Daniel Sturridge key man in attack with 31 goals, Wolfswinkel and Sanchez give the Blues a strong forward line. Hazard will be leaving, Kante provides the bite in midfield, defensively the team are good. With maybe 1 or 2 signings, tip for League Champions.
The Toffees had a poor season, too reliant on Wayne Rooney and his 27 goals they need investment in strikers, midfield is competitive and in Bolasie they have one of the top passers with 99 key passes.Probably need at least 2 defenders to be more competitive and tight in defense, with no manager our tip is fighting a relegation battle for another season.
Leeds problem is scoring goals, the team have average strikers for the Premier League and need investment.Midfield and Defense really need strengthening if Leeds are to avoid another relegation battle and low finish. No manager means it will be hard, tip for relegation to the Championship.
Won promotion and appointed Premier League winning manager ColinW, the Foxes have a well balanced squad and Slimani provided 28 goals but the club need at least 2 new strikers. Midfield is competitive with Maddison, Boschilia and Rakitic, several defenders would boost the team. With a good manager and a good balanced team should achieve a top 6 finish.
Finished 3rd last season and back into Europe, Drum took over the club and with Mo Salah and 25 goals they could do with another top striker if they are to challenge for the Premier League title.Alli, Bruffio and Can are the key for midfield which is their strength, 1 or 2 defenders would also help the Reds title challenge. Key will be how they get results against Chelse and Man Utd, should be up there challenging our tip 4th place finish.
Another of the promoted clubs and with manager Ronaldo should give the Premier League some good matches, Jesus scored 21 goals but rumors he maybe leaving, leaving Vardy and Goes investment in 2 strikers should be a priority. Koke, Mahrez and De Bruyne provide much attacking intent from midfield, defense will need to be boosted. City have a strong team and a tip for a 3rd place finish.
United had their best season with 4 trophies and runners up in the Premier League, although no manager currently they have one of the strongest squads. The attack is real strength with Griezmann and 31 goals, Dybala 24 goals and Gomes with 21 goals, De Jong leads the midfield. At the back 2 defenders should be on their shopping list, strong team with or without manager and tip for Runners up again.
The 4th of the promoted sides, manager MickeyW did a great job rallying the team back up to the Premier League and will have a battle to keep them in the Premier League. Their weakness is attack with only two U23 strikers heavy investment is needed to score goals to keep them up, Khedira leaving the club means they need to spend well in all areas to strengthen. Our tip is to survive but it will be a close season.
Pompey have defied the odds and finished 4th for the last two seasons, with Mourinho back at the helm they will be battling near the top half. Many changes going on at the club with Torres, Arnautovic and Rashford all leaving will need investment in attack, midfield is competitive some investment needed in defense.
If Pompey can stay solid a tip for another top 6 finish.
The Blades had a great first season finishing 6th and good all-round team but need some investment in defense to tighten up. Although no manager they will be difficult to play against, tip for around mid table finish.
Wednesday stayed up on the last day of the season, Hooper and Forestieri will need to step up more this season if they are to avoid relegation again. Defense needs more strength and maybe 1 or 2 midfields if the club can improve on last season. Tip Relegation.
Tottenham had a poor season and this time will be looking to build, they now have ex Man Utd boss Ian Thompson in charge and after his success will look to work magic on Spur.  Neymar coming in is a big boost with 29 goals last season, Ronaldo had 23 goals and together should prove a big threat to Premier League defenses. Eriksen will again lead midfield, a couple of defenders would help boost the team. Tip for Champions League places.

In the N Power Championship the new look 14 clubs should prove and interesting League with no stand out teams as favourites.
Here are our views on the managed clubs:-
Newly promoted to the Championship with Stevie as Caretaker, the experience of Pitman and Nugent in attack will provide the goals. Veteran Gary O'Neil will provide mettle in midfield, a better keeper and couple of defenders would boost the team. Tip top 6 finish, but miss out on promotion.
Another of newly promoted clubs, caretakered by Giggsy newest manager and no real experience could be a tall order. Need a lot of investment to be competitive in the Championship with no real stand out players.Tip battling relegation and safety.
Also newly promoted club, with Inzaghi as manager experienced and won the Coppa with AC Milan, brings his experience to the Terriers. Steve Mounie will provide the goals, La Parra, Hogg and Juninho will be backbone of midfield, a couple of defenders should boost the team.Tip challenging for promotion, 2nd place.
Finished mid table last season and with GaryG a good manager, Rondon and Jovic should provide goals and class in Championship. Strong midfield and defense should have a good season and challenging for promotion.Tip 1st place.
Relegated on final day of season, have kept manager Ccoates which is a boost. Lozano and Tielemans the key players, have a strong squad compared to Championship clubs, with little investment should be challenging.Tip 3rd place just missing out on promotion.
Promoted club appointed Macca as caretaker, midfield is their strength need more attacking firepower to challenge for promotion. Zabaleta will be main man in defense. Need some investment to be challengers.Tip mid table finish.

Other contenders:Burnley had good season just missed promotion and should challenge again, Southampton are also strong and should be in the mix, relegated Wolves might be an outside bet if they can keep their team together..
