The Catalans

What a day in football, Spanish giants have been in talks most of the day with Real Madrid manager "Chelseablues" and Werder Bremen Caretaker manager "Stevie" and the Spanish papers were stunned when Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu announced that the Real Madrid manager had agreed terms on a 2 year contract with immediate effect.
Barcelona fans were even more stunned with many taking to social media and venting anger at having a former Real Madrid manager as their new boss amidst the fact that Barcelona finished 3rd above Real Madrid by 5pts were denied a Superliga place due the Nou Camp not meeting the criteria and Real Madrid will take their place.
Now it will be interesting to see how the new boss takes to all the publicity and adverse comments from both Real Madrid fans who are angered and Barcelona fans alike.....

But the appointment has been made, the boss arrived at the club at 9pm this evening and had a meeting with his new players and officials at the club.  The boss will need to sort a team that has 11 players aged 30+, and will no doubt use his scouting knowledge to bring quality players into the club, the boss has proved he is a winner with 8 trophies and one of the reasons the club were desperate to get his signature and lead them into the Superliga and to conquer the Champions League.
We hope to get a statement when we can......

Re: The Catalans

Today Barcelona FC President Josep Maria Bartomeu announced the club had tied up a record breaking £210,000,000 deal for Arsenal midfielder Bruffio and they had to hold off rivals Real Madrid and Premier League Portsmouth for his signature.  Many of the media are astounded by the valuation and setting a record for all leagues, but the club President stated:-
"We wanted to make a statement and show that this club wants to be the best and not afraid to go after big players if we think they are important to the managers plans".

The new midfielder will arrive at the club tomorrow evening to complete his transfer, also joining the club will be Manchester United midfielder Iker Gundogan arriving in a part swap deal with £70 million with star midfielder Philip Coutinho joining the Red Devils.  Fans on social media were disappointed that Coutinho will be leaving the Nou Camp he has been instrumental this season with 4 goals in 6 games and 27 key passes.  Bruffio a different type of midfielder will be welcomed by the fans and a different dimension in Barca's midfield with Joao Felix expected to take up Coutinho's role in the team.

Icardi and Unger are in talks with several clubs and both expected to leave the club this week, Barca will be looking to bring in replacements.

Re: The Catalans

Barcelona comfortably made their way into the last 16 of the Champions League last night with a 6-2 thrashing of Paris St Germain, with Raul JImenez on target with two goals, Mayoral scoring twice, Cesc Fabregas and Gundogan bagging a goal each too.  Can, Coman and Gundogan controlled the midfield with their passing skills, Joao Felix and Arthur produced good displays as Barca were rampant in Paris creating 42 scoring chances and should have bagged more goals.
The club finished Group F as winners as many had expected and winning all 6 group games scoring 33 goals and only conceding 4 goals, in the Round of 16 have drawn English club Portsmouth who are struggling or form with 6 successive defeats.  Fans at the club have really taken to manager "Chelseablues" and how he has the team playing and scoring goals with free flowing attacking football.
Bookies have made Real Madrid favourites to lift the Champions League, but dont write off Barcelona the way the club are playing no one will want to play Barcelona or come to the Nou Camp.

The rotation policy with the strikers is working well, Sergio Aguero has 15 goals, Raul Jimenez 11 goals and Mayoral has 5 goals in 5 games.
