Leeds - The Mighty Whites

LEEDS UNITED APPOINT NEW BOSS

Leeds United announced tonight they have finally found a manager and appointed "Marco Bielsa" at the Elland Road outfit.  The Argentine coach takes over with not too much top flight experience but looking to bring glory days of the 1970s back to Leeds United, has very unique coaching qualities and very different approach to the game to many managers.  We understand the club approached Bielsa, after he revealed he had watched many videos of last season games and had studied the club and their history.
A coach determined to be Leeds United through and through and bring success back to the club, the former player is looking to instill qualities in his players and have them focusing on football and the community.
The new coach is said to be very analytical of matches and likes to watch his opponents are doing, very open and happy to sit down with his players.

He inherits a team ripped apart from player departures and only 15 1st team players available, and no real standout players and with the season starting on sunday he will have to work quickly to start building a team.
More news to come from Elland Road....

Leeds into Last 16

On Sunday night Leeds United booked their place in the last 16 of the EFA Cup with a 1-0 win over Everton, they dominated the passing and shooting at goal but only Harrison popped up with the winner.
The Leeds team played well and were too much for struggling Everton to contend with on the night, midfielder Anita had one of his busiest games of the season as always Robinho was busy in attack.

In the Premier league the club are mid table, and tonight face a massive test against unbeaten league leaders Chelsea it what manager "Bielsa" described as probably the hardest match of the season.
Good news for Leeds is full squad available and many will be watching to see if the boss changes the 4-1-4-1 formation and goes with 2 in attack against Chelsea.
Anita and Vukovic will be key in midfield to try and stifle the stars of Chelsea, we think Robinho will need a partner in attack if Leeds are to pull off a shock result tonight.

PREMIER LEAGUE PROVING TOUGH

Leeds United are finding it a tough Premier League this season, last season the club finished in 8th place just 1 point above relegation and this season could be in for another battle.
Currently they are in 10th place just 2 pts from relegation zone and with 5 defeats from 7 matches, some of their performances have been good but not getting the needed results and points.
Its clear to everyone that playing one striker, Robinho is not working and the club need to be playing with two strikers and start banging in the goals.  Midfield has been disappointing so far with only Anita and Vukovic in double figures for passing, Lincoln has been busy in attack but poor with his passing skills but at age 18 is one for the future.
Defensively much work is needed, 14 goals conceded in 7 matches, boss "Bielsa" does not seem to have found his preferred defense as yet.
Lots of hardwork needed on the training ground to improve results.

BOSS DELIGHTED WITH WIN OVER CITY

Leeds United boss "Marco Bielsa" was beaming on Sunday night after his Leeds United went to the Etihad in poor form and battled away for a 3-1 win and more importantly 3 points.
The Leeds team battled well restricted City to just 1 shot on target and more possession and outpassed City with their passing and the midfield battling well led by Sturaro and his 6 key passes.
Vukovic, Lincoln and Hojberg combined well with their passing and tackling shutting down City's more illustrious midfielders and controlling the game.  Shoji held the defense tight.
A valuable 3pts and if the team can keep performing like this they will definatley keep their Premier League status for another season.

The veteran striker Robinho is having one of his best seasons with 14 goals in 16 matches, averaging a goal every 3.78 shots, Vitinho needs to up his game with only 4 goals from 14 matches.
In midfield, Vurnon Anita has been the key man with the Defensive Midfielder having posted 35 key passes and 8 key tackles, Vukovic, Rakitic and Sturaro have also weighed in with good passing stats and come end of the season these players could prove crucial to survival.
Leeds are currently 11 points above the relegation zone going into Round 12 of 26 rounds and the win over City should help lift everyone at the club.

Re: Leeds - The Mighty Whites

LEEDS STRUGGLING FOR FORM

After last night's 4-0 defeat at Anfield, boss "Bielsa" seemed far from happy with his players at the final whistle and kept them locked in the changing room for up to 1 hour after the match.
Leeds are really struggling for form, with 4 defeats in their last 5 matches and only 1 win in 6 games which has seen them slide down the Premier League table, just 7 pts off relegation zone and with many of their relegation rivals picking up points its worrying times for the club.
Last night too many players did not show up and play football, the normally prolific Robinho seems out of sorts of recent weeks and not scoring the goals, the midfield have been playing well but now for the boss tough decisions ahead.  Should he change formation and tactics to ensure survival?  Should he bring in new faces, and take apart his team?
This is where "Bielsa" will earn his money and stay at the club, we understand the club have given the boss the vote of confidence and that his job is not in doubt, but this is football.
Fans will be awaiting to see any response after last nights bad defeat, and if changes are imminent....
